My Gear

This page covers the gear I am using on a day-2-day basis for my photography.
I am only listing those items, which I can recommend fully.

When choosing my gear, I put a lot of focus on packing light, as well as on ease of use. Reason is that I want to take my equipment with me also during extended hikes in the mountains, or be very flexible taking it with me for other occasions, not necessarily with the intention to capture wildlife.

For this reason, when I (re)started my hobby in 2020 I found my gear of choice to be the Panasonic LUMIX Micro-Four-Thirds MFT system, which offers a good compromise between transportability and picture quality.

I am using the Mindshift rotation backpack during my trips. I am wearing the Panasonic Gx9, which is a very portable camera, attached to the shoulder strap via the Peak Design Capture Clip. I use the Gx9 together with the Leica 1260mm mainly for landscape pictures. For wildlife shots, I am wearing the Panasonic G9 with the Leica 100400mm lens either with the Peak Design Slide Lite strap around the neck, or in the MindShift backpack, where I can easily rotate it to the front, without taking off the backpack.

By the end of 2021, I decided to extend my MFT equipment and upgrade to Full Frame
To benefit from the same excellent ease of use that G9 and GX9 provide, and to keep the same color science, I opted to stay with Panasonic and bought the S1 camera, alongside with the then freshly released Sigma 150-600 f5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports lense. Since then, I am mainly using the S1 for my wildlife photography trips.

You can find my thoughts on this combo in my review here.
